Can the US disengage economically from China? The answer is NO & NO. The White House has drawn up a comprehensive plan to increase domestic production to reduce reliance on global supply chains (i.e. semiconductors), particularly from China. Didn’t we hear this before? Let’s get real America!!!!
POTUS & Democratic members of Congress are also pushing for a reduction in US dependence on vital imports from China, while critics of economic disengagement -- including the US chamber of commerce in particular -- warn that separating the economies of the two countries will hamper existing supply chains, exacerbate production delays, and force companies and consumers (you & I) to afford price increases.
POTUS faces urgent demands from US companies that tariffs under trump should be suspended, whose unilateral action has had consequences for the US economy alone, and the lifting of those duties on imports from China has pushed the former president to increase the cost of manufactured goods in China to US consumers by $80 billion in 2018 alone and resulted in the loss of between 250,000 and 300,000 jobs (You got the picture)!
I guess we all know what it means moving forward!

Singaporens enjoy decades of internaional praises and commercial success showered upon them mainly by the western nations and US allies.

Fact of the matter is - Singapore is a "nothing" country without "Strait of Malacca".
A rising China and a declining USA will slowly and steadily put Singapore in its rightful place.
(Side note: Singaporeans have in the past decades, developed a sense of "white supermacy complex" to the point that majority of them resent the Chinese blood flowing in their Westernised bodies.)
