China is spending big in ramping up clean energy production and management.
In April 2025, China’s renewable energy sector saw both wind and solar power reach individual record high contributions to the country’s electricity generation. Wind power was responsible for a 13.6% share, while solar power made up 12.4%; nuclear power accounts for roughly 5% of the country's electricity generation; around 13% of electricity generation comes from hydropower and roughly 2% from oil and bio fuel.
Clean energy management:
Electricity generated from coal is expected to fall below 50% in 2025; adding more battery storage to help manage the power grid; developing regional CCS (carbon capture and storage) hubs, which would involve building infrastructure for CO2 capture, transport, and storage from various industrial sources, including coal-fired power plants.

China brought 2 major oild fields in Bohai Sea into production.
- The Bozhong 26-6 light crude oilfield development project (Phase I) commenced production on February 7, 2025; Kenli 10-2 heavy crude oilfield started production on 22nd June 2025.
Bozhong 26-6 and Kenli 10-2 are both major oilfields operated by CNOOC in the Bohai Sea, China, but they differ in their production characteristics and peak output. Bozhong 26-6 is expected to reach a peak production of 22,300 barrels of oil equivalent per day in 2025, while Kenli 10-2 is projected to peak at 19,400 barrels per day in 2026. Bozhong 26-6 is known for its light crude and is the world's largest metamorphic buried-hill oilfield, while Kenli 10-2 is noted for its heavy crude and is the first lithological oilfield with 100 million tons of reserves discovered in the shallow depression zone of the Bohai Bay Basin.
