(Side note: The London Metal Exchange (LME) specialises in the trading of industrial metals and is the world's leading center for non-ferrous metal futures and options contracts. It provides a global marketplace for price discovery and risk management (hedging) for producers, consumers, and investors in the metals industry. )

With effect from 10 November 2025, the London Metal Exchange (LME) will suspend trading in relation to Metal Options denominated in currencies other than US dollars (“non-USD Metal Options”).

What's in the funding deal just passed that extends funding for the federal government until 30 January?

  • It guarantees that all federal workers will be paid for time during the shutdown, and funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) - which provides food aid to one in eight Americans until next September.
  • It includes an agreement for a vote in December on extending healthcare subsidies that are due to expire this year, a key issue Democrats had been holding out for concessions on.
