According to japanese General Election polls, Sanae Takaichi is set to win the Japanese election by a landslide.

Was Xi's video call to Putin and followed by his phone call to Trump timed to send a clear meesage to Takaichi not to say and do anything that will cross China's Taiwan Red line after her election win?

During the phone calls:

Xi stressed to Trump:
"The Taiwan question is the most important issue in China–U.S. relations. Taiwan is China’s territory. China must safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and it will never allow Taiwan to be separated from China. The U.S. side must handle the issue of arms sales to Taiwan with great prudence."

Xi said to Putin:
"The two countries solemnly commemorated the 80th anniversary of the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War, demonstrating a firm resolve to defend the victorious outcomes of WWII."

Putin said to Xi:
"Russia and China jointly commemorated the 80th anniversary of the victory of WWII, firmly safeguarded world peace secured with great sacrifice by the people of both countries and defended historical truth."

China has recently made its Taiwan position crystal clear and has already "officially" warn Japan several times not to further provoke China:

*In late 2025 and early 2026, China sent multiple official letters to the United Nations Secretary-General, which were circulated to all UN member states, addressing its ongoing diplomatic crisis with Japan. While the letters do not explicitly state that "World War II never ended," they argue that Japan is a defeated nation whose current actions "openly challenge the victorious outcomes of World War II" and the post-war international order.

China’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Fu Cong, sent letters on 21 November and 1 December 2025, primarily in response to remarks by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi regarding military intervention in Taiwan.:

Key Assertions in China's UN Letters

The correspondence highlights several critical historical and legal arguments:

Japan as a "Defeated Nation": China repeatedly emphasizes Japan's status as a defeated country in World War II, asserting it must "strictly honor its political commitment" and "fulfill its duties" as such.

Challenge to Post-War Order: China claims that Japan's military buildup and its potential intervention in Taiwan constitute an "open challenge to the victorious outcomes of World War II" and a serious violation of the UN Charter.

The "Enemy State" Clauses: Chinese officials have suggested that if Japan intervenes militarily in Taiwan, China could invoke the "enemy State" clauses in the UN Charter.

(Side note: **Is it now time for China to finish ww2 with Japan? Why China not just do what USA did to make Japan surrender? Dropping a few FD 61 on Japan will settle the unsettled score nicely and decisively. AIMHO.)
